Grilled Peaches with Cherry Sauce

INGREDIENTS:

For the Cherry Sauce:

  • 450g Cherries, pitted

  • 2 Tbsp Sugar

  • 1 Tbsp Lemon Juice

  • ½ tsp Vanilla Extract


For the Grilled Peaches:

  • 4 Ripe Peaches, halved and pitted

  • 2 Tbsp Butter, melted

  • 2 Tbsp Brown Sugar


DIRECTIONS:

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine the cherries, sugar, and lemon juice. Cook over medium heat until the cherries start to break down and release their juices, about 8-10 minutes.

  2. Add the vanilla extract and cook for another minute. Remove from heat and let the sauce cool slightly.

  3. Preheat your braai to medium-high heat (around 200°C).

  4. Brush the cut sides of the peach halves with melted butter and sprinkle with brown sugar.

  5. Place the peaches cut-side down and cook for 4-6 minutes until they have grill marks and are slightly softened.

  6. Flip the peaches and grill for an additional 3-5 minutes until fully softened.

  7. Transfer to a dish and spoon the cherry sauce over them. Serve and enjoy!
